I assume this python goes in this forum but lets ge ton with it. Why haven't I heard about this guy much he seems like he would make a great pet. I was having trouble finding full grown prey item, what would it be? Would a cage with the dimensions of 36" long, 18" wide, and 24" high be big enough? Would I be able to keep it on rats, or would I be feeding rabbits( they are available its just the jump in price)? I have some experience with snakes but not this large I have a ball python, childrens python, vine snake, corn snake, and a gopher snake. ANy other useful information or links to sites about anything good on these guys would be good.

This is as good a location as any. Bredl's are very interesting pythons in my opinion, for the simple fact that they are more active during the day than many others. The tend to tame well though I have a sub-adult male that is extremely unfriendly. He is the exception in this species I think.

As for prey items, they will likely always be satisfied with large rats to jumbo rats. I doubt that many are rabbit eaters though there are exceptions to every rule.

As for cage size, an adult Bredl can be comfortably housed in a cage of 4 x 2 x 1.5-2 feet. The cage that you described might be a bit tight for an adult Bredl of 7-8 feet. They do like to climb so going with more height is never a bad thing so long as you can keep it heated.

They are the perfect python. I have some basic information on my website. They also will eat just about anything, and I have fed mine rats, mice, chickens, pigeons (captive raised), and hamsters. They do eat rabbits in the wild. They are calm and easily handled and are bullet proof as far as care goes. They do get around 8 ft long, so they are longer than a lot of the Morelia. I would definately reccommend them and they are one of my favorites. I would also suggest a bigger cage than 36" long, as they are very active and will use as large a cage as you want to give them. They are also becoming affordable. E-mail if you have any further questions. You won't regret getting one.

I'll second that. Great pythons with good length and girth, and a great laid-back attitude. Highly recommended.
