Sexing baby ambilobe panther

jeffreypeacock Mar 10, 2005 06:34 PM

The breeder my friend got his cham from said it was a male, but @ 2 months isn't that kind of hard to tell. I saw him today and BOY IS HE CUTE!! But i'm not sure he is a he, the coloration of the cham seems to be very light orange/tan at rest, and when he moves around he gets black bars across his white lateral stripe, and where the lateral stripe and bars meet is light blue. He also has a little red on his belly. A hemipenal buldge is absent, but is there a "usual" coloration for a male ambilobe baby? Anyone have a picture of their baby male that was around 2 months?

I have Sambavas and Nosey Be but the coloration for a 2 month old won't represent what he'll be after 1 year old. It sounds like a male from what you said but you should be able to see a hemipenal bulge. Here is a link you can go to, to see what he should look like as an adult: http://www.calumma.com/panther_chameleons.htm

Plus females will always be a light peach/brown with black banding. No other coloration at all.
