Tail becoming curvy

greenmoose Mar 11, 2005 06:40 AM

So I bought a couple standing day geckos about two weeks ago and they have been doing amazing. They each eat consistently every day but I have noticed that one of the day geckos seems to be getting kinks in its tail making it more or less have a wavy appearance. My question is what do people think about this? Could it be the one biting the other's tail or is it a more fundamental problem with humidity, vitamins...Thanks.

Tail kinking happens when the day gecko isn't able to support the weight of the tail while basking. If they stay on the glass all the time tail kinking is more likely to happen. To keep it from happening make sure that the basking spot is as close to the light as possible and that it is wide enough. I have a Standing's Day Gecko too and I'll be getting more after I build a bigger tank.
