Is this a good deal?

casey31179 Mar 11, 2005 07:26 AM

Hello I came across a person who is hard up for money right now his is selling a albino female boa who is possibly bred the a het albino. He has pictures of them breeding. He only want $1800 for her. I am thinking this is a real good deal but we are yet to know if she is bred or not. What do you think? And if she is gravid what is the best way to transport her? I don't want to stress her.

Thanks
Erin

For an adult female albino that is good alone. But be careful, many people sell adults who have problems the keeper does not want to address. If you go ahead with it, follow STRICT quarantine procedures.

I have a few thoughts going on with this post.
1st) I couldn't fathom somebody selling a (possibly)gravid female Albino for this cheap, even if cash was an issue.
2) Just as Chris had said, there's something else that's being kept disclosed (likely).
3) I just wouldn't consider buying a possibly gravid anything, and have it shipped.-it's a warning flag.
In the past, Iv'e seen good deals (not as good as this), and went through with them, and almost in every case I've been somehow burned. From now on, I'll only buy a Boa from someone with a good reputation, with plenty of info readily available, with a price that the snake deserves. No more "GOOD" deals for me.
Good luck , be wise.

I too have been through the wringer on more than one "great deal" and I don't like the idea of shipping a gravid girl...not at all.

Basically you guys have hit on my concern with the price. I have been to look at the boa and the rest of the guy's collection and as far as looks everything looks great. But I am definatly concerned with how cheap he is willing to sell her and am definatly going to put a little more thought into it.

Thanks

Is this person your friend and that it why you are getting an incredible deal, or is that the price for anyone? I work at a pet store (a good one!! not some gross animal farm!) and we wouldn't ever sell an albino female over 18 inches for a penny less then $2000. Sounds very fishy to me, I suppose if he really really needed the money...then again I'd starve before I sold a female like that
