Not eating

mefingas Mar 11, 2005 09:15 AM

I was just wondering if it is normal for a lg to stop eating. It has been colder in our house and she is right around the time she should be shedding since she does it every 4 weeks like clock work. I weigh her every week and she is still the same weight. My husband has tried to give her both waxworms and mealworms but she will eat one or two then slink away. I was wondering does anyone notice that in the winter their lg's slow down a little? Thanks for any help that you can give me.

Yeah it is normal for leo's to stop eating during the colder months and shouldnt really be much to worry about as long as she is producing regular normal stools. You may want to upp the temps in her tank a little to try coax her back into feeding normally. I to have a Leo who will stop eating a few days prior to shedding i have always thoguht this is due to the fact that they consume their sheds and have to make room for all that skin! :0)

Hope this helps a little

Thanks. Usually it is around 85 in the hot end. We are planning on getting another heat lamp. Thanks. I know that as long as she keeps her weight on I shouldn't be worried. Thanks again.
