Female will not give up eggs!

eve_scotland Mar 11, 2005 10:02 AM

My female Leo has laid 2 clutches of eggs this season , both of which are in the incubator and doing nicely! However, she laid her first on Febuary 2nd and the second Febuary 15th , since then she has not laid anymore! She is heavily gravid i can clearly see 2 HUGE bulges on her side! So it has been roughly 24 days since her last lay. She was very wrestles about 3 fays ago - digging around in her lay box and the substrate around - since then she has stopped this behaviour?? Any ideas what the problem could be? Am i just being over egar for more eggs :0)

Thanx in advance

Your leo should be ok..... Sometimes they just hold them longer than other times..... Give her another few days..... If you are that worried about it, bring her to the vet..... But I am sure she is ok being that she already layed 2 clutches for you without any problems.....

She's a little overdue but I've had some go alot longer in between. 3 weeks is pretty average. The first 2 clutches were a little close together so she might just be getting back on track. Also, make sure she gets her weight back up as quickly as possible and she has plenty of calcium. That can slow them down some, too.
Stress can be another factor.
