Springtails for R. Brevs..

chimbakka Mar 11, 2005 12:16 PM

I finally ordered insects offline for the first time. Go me!
I got some springtails for my little brevs, but they look REALLY small?? I have some in a dish, I'll check when I get home if they have eaten any of them. What I need is advice as to whether or not they are too small to feed my brevs, and how I should go about offering them. Any tips/suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Lindsay,
We found termites to be a great choice for the brevs. The springtails we tried were too small. Hydei flies are good too.

Springtails are great for the enclosure. They will eat poo that you may have missed along with other things that are decaying. The ones I got online are super tiny, so my pygmies don’t eat them let alone see them. So they are more for maintenance not food. They also reproduce like crazy so don’t feel you need to use the whole culture for one enclosure. Roly poly bugs are good too.
