What is the 'name' for this color/pattern

ezteok Mar 11, 2005 03:09 PM

Hi,

This little one is from a litter of 9 (2 gardens, 6 somewhat brown/olive with not much pattern and this one.) born 2 months ago. As you can see he/she got much red but i'm wondering if this will disappear when older. Or perhaps he/she will be more red in the future But how should i call this color/pattern?

Regards,

Ezteok

A garden? Ok! Well that's something altough he/she has much much much more red then the one on your picture. The question is however will this red disappear in the future or will it become stronger. By now it's becoming (somewhat) stronger but he/she is only 3 months old and shed only twice. Time will tell I will hold this one back to see what it will become.

2 other in the same litter have exact the same pattern/color as the one on your picture. So with your answer i have a pretty good idea how they will become in the future! Thanx! But for the picture i send... i'm not so sure Nice issue that color/pattern thing on ATB's! You never know what to expect!

Thnx for your answer!

That would be great! Nice animal! It's real fun those ATB's, the same litter of 9 produce 9 very different animals!

two garden (or what i call 'gardens' IMHO):

and six brown/yellow/olive (but all different) with very little black 'spicks' on them:

Thnx for your answer!

Whoow what a difference the first picture and the second one! I can only hope this will happen to the six i have But there sure look very much the same as the one on your picture.

The reason why i wanted to know all this (and not just wait) is to decide which one(s) to keep and which one(s) to sell... Right now i think the best thing to do is to keep all nine of them.... Except for the two gardens perhaps... Hmmm LOL

I'm pretty sure they gonna turn like that!

and for the babies, keep only the yellow ones

the red/purple will turn grey like mine I'm sure! loll

Yep... you were right

This afternoon when i came from my work i found one of the yellows, the darkest one, shedding. Before this he was dark yellow, much as the picture a post before but darker, and now you can see the red coming true Ain't it something LOL!

Are you really gonna sell your gardens?

ezteok Mar 14, 2005 01:57 PM

Please.... don't ask me this Hahahahahahah ARGGGHHH

Don't know, but i can't keep them all. I could but besides this litter i also have 7 adults (4.3) and i expect some more offspring this year. And before you know it you end up with 100 ATB's and a desperate need of rodents LOL! But it's difficult to deside which one to sell en which one to keep. Even if they are common gray or whatever color they may have.....

capital AWESOME? Red? Yellow? Tiger? Hurry up with those pictures!

I have to make some new pictures... that's a specialisation on it's own... for me that is... But i will post a few pictures in the near feature

The pictures below i made a few weeks ago. This is how a keep 3 of my female ATB's Not very on topic but never the less a nice picture i would say It's size is 2m (h) x 1.20m (l) x 0.60m (d) (meters). It's has a automatic misting system with 2 nozzles, halogeen lamps, a very big water barge and of course loaded with branches and plants. Males are seperated from the females in smaller glass cages (1m x 0.70m x 0.40m) but also with misting systems and loaded with branches and plants. I treat them the same as i would treat tropical frogs or so when it comes to humidity and environment.

Female cage (2m (h) x 1.20m (l) x 0.60m (d))

My patternless yellow and my reddish w/pattern (mother of my litter) females somewhere in the bush

The ceiling with one of the nozzles, lamps, etc.

Again, off topic but nice to see i think

Here's a similar looking baby from our October litter. It's hard to tell with these, the reds could increase making ti a patterned red, or they could decrease (like agar's photos) making it a garden phase. They can sometimes maintain enough of the reds to look kind of like a garden phase with a red wash over them.

Mike,

Thanks for your answer! By now i do understand that it's a 50/50 case on how he/she will become Lucky for me it's only one animal and the rest seems to be quite predictable when it comes to color/pattern.

P.s. nice picture! Lizzy? LOL Nice site you have too, helped me a lot when i started the ATB dance about a year ago now

What a animal! Close to perfection i would say Patternless red seems to be the holy grail but if i have to choose between a paternless red animal and this one i'm not so sure about my decision....

By the way... that green climbing stuff. What's that? Or better said, where is it normaly used for? Some sort of tree protection or for climbing plants? I spend hours and hours with small PVC pipes and tire-raps to build this for my litter but this looks a lot easier!

That's something I'm using for the first time after seeing a lot of other corallus breeders using it for their baby boxes...it's flexible vinyl/plastic garden fencing, you can get 3' x 25' rolls for about $10 and cut hundreds of pieces to fit whatever size box you use.

BTW, these are from ReptileTubs.com, I really like them. They have secure lids and have the best visibility of all the rubbermaid/sterilte type boxes.

Thanks for the tip! I could save some money and time if i know this earlier

Those boxes looks great. I use the same size at this moment for my litter but they have a poor visibility. Something to think over since i expect some more offspring this year.

This is what i use at this moment:
