My Ribbon Snake

Scientist4life Mar 11, 2005 08:47 PM

I just wanted to share a pic of my Ribbon snake. If you see anything interesting please reply. The first pic is my tank, the left has the water bowl and the right has a fake plant and a clump of rocks I made into a hideing spot for him. The second is Jason slithering comeing out of his hiding rocks.

That is the most garter-snake-looking ribbon snake I've ever seen!

I think you are right, the main reason I posted this is to correctly idedify it, so I personally believe it is a Garter but what species?

If it's from a pet store, try to trace the supply chain back to the wholesaler. Depending on where the wholesaler is located, you might be able to narrow it down to a few species (assuming the wholesaler is gathering his stock "fairly" locally).

Also, get a field guide to garters and key it out by checking things like labial count.
