how to heal Lil' Guy's tail???

krystal19_85 Jul 08, 2003 06:59 PM

What can I do to help his poor tail? Would Peroxide work? Or is that a no no? I have neosporin, but it is the pain relief kind and I read that wasn't good, is that true?

...Can't see the tail very well but presumably you've got some infection going on. Peroxide is really only good for debriding (removing) necrotic (dead) tissue. Your Neosporin is OK or try Betadine (or generic povidone-iodine) ointment. Keep in dry cage with ONLY drinking water. No swimming!! How to do that? Offer drinking water daily, don't let the snake swim, pull the water. Good luck! Scott J. Michaels DVM

I would suggest changing the substrate to paper towels until the tail has healed....
