My kingsnake's tail appears to be broken?

kmk5d6 Mar 12, 2005 12:22 AM

My snake's tail has a kink and it does not touch the ground when he moves. It appears to have no blood flow, and looks pretty bad. Is it broken? Is there anything I can do, it kind of looks like the tip may fall off. He escaped a little while back but I do not recall his tail looking like this, so I'm not sure what could have caused it. Can someone please help me so I'll stop freaking out about this IF its not a big deal. Also, I am new to this, I have a picture of his tail, but I don't know how to post it, so if a picture would help can someone instruct me on how to post it, or I can personally email it to you.

That can happen when the end of the shed stays on for a long time. I often notice "tail-tip" sheds that have not come off, and try to remove them asap. It does restrict blood flow, and the tip may very well become "dead" and fall off. If so, put a dab of something on it to prevent infection. Duffy
