Legalities of Pituophis in certain states...

azatrox Mar 12, 2005 12:36 AM

Just for the heck of it, I was wondering if there were certain states where the keeping of Pituophis was illegal. I know that in NJ keeping northern pines is a no-no, and in Fla. a person cannot have more than 1 normal southern pine, but I was curious as to whether or not there were states that specifically outlawed the keeping of these animals....

Northern pines are in fact LEGAL to keep in NJ as long as they are purchased from an outside state. You must have a $10 permit from F&W to keep 99% of herps, and the permit covers one animal, or 50 different ones.
It is illegal to take any from the NJ wild.

Just incase you don't know all native non venoumus reptiles are protected in Georgia and I believe that means you cannot keep them either. I know that you are not even allowed to sell albino corns in Geargia. At least a buddy of mine that has a shop said he couldn't about 15-18 months ago. So I think that means no S pines
