when to start interaction with my water monitor

nogard Mar 12, 2005 01:16 PM

I have had him for about two weeks now, he eats in front of me, from my tongs and has stopped trying to whip me when I am cleaning his cage, Now he looks up at me and if I get to close he starts to puff up and just sits there hissing. It seems that he has stopped seeing me as a threat, and is starting to chill out. when I went to pet him he sat there and kept hissing, then he stopped for a little while, am I doing this correcly? I have not forced him out of his hide at all and only try to interact when I see him out and about.

thanks
tony butler

Start now.I've had good luck doing it early and interacting with them in a bath tub is a real good way to earn their trust and let them start to trust you.Remember they fear the huge creature that lurks above them and it's natural to be defensive until they learn that you are no threat to them.My 5' Blackthroat still gives a hiss, puff, and good whack when I piss her off.
