LOL. OK, now that I have your attention, I need an opinion on this guy. You may have seen him around on another forum for sale as an "Oddball Pastel". As the story went this guy was picked up at the Daytona show in 03 as an ugly pastel and he just got uglier (browned out). I honestly didn't think he was a pastel, but when I saw a full body picture of him I loved his coloring. He's much better looking in person almost mojaveish (maybe a dirty blonde/ugly cousin version of a mojave). Either way I got him cheap, less than what I've paid for some of my other good looking normals. What do you think about him, is it possible he could actually be a pastel and if so, would his offspring also brown out early or is there a chance he could have "normal" pastels. I know the picture is aweful, but I'm looking into getting a new camera.

To me, from those pics he looks like a very pretty normal. However, I know how difficult it can be to photograph pastels and catch their true colors. Does he have a clear belly? Pastels do, and if he does, that would give some hope. The only way to know for sure is to breed him out and see what you get!

Tosha, that's the first clue, I would think. Check the belly. Whatever way it goes it's a pretty one.

Who originally produced him?? Were "papers" not provided??

The clear belly is a legitimate "case" with Pastels, however, if you know nothing of this bp's history.......then a clear belly would not "prove" true in this case considering the many normals, that are constantly being advertised and posted on the forum, that have clear bellies. Your ONLY sure way of knowing if he is a Pastel is to trace his history.

Now if he is a Pastel......you asked about his Pastel offspring. Considering Pastels are quite variable....meaning really nice ones have produced equally nice ones AND "ugly" ones and vice versa.......you could produce some really nice Pastels. Also, it wouldn't hurt to breed him to the prettiest and brightest females you can get your hands on.

He's definitely unique......and Very Cool!....Best of luck!

His belly is clear, but I'm not sure that really means much. I seriously doubt he's anything but normal, but appreciate the opinions. He's been hooking up with one of my girls so we'll see what comes of it. Thanks again!

I totally agree ! No chance of him being a pastel just a high blushing norm but a good looking animal that would pair up nice with a true pastel female if you had one .
