Hi, I am new to this forum board and I was wondering if anyone knows any breeders that do breeding loans with mojave or pastel jungle ball pythons. Thanks Scott
I own a mojave and wouldn't consider sending him to ANYONE for a breeding loan. Let me correct that, I would only send him to people I truly trust. I would send him to Andre over at ASF Reptiles for example because he's trustworthy and we have a good track record together. There are other breeders (Ozzyboids, MarksHerps, BallBoutique, etc) just to name a few that I would do a breeding loan with.
I think that when you're dealing with high-end morphs like a Mojave, Cinnamon, etc., you'll do breeding loans with people you know and trust. Otherwise, forget it.
Hope this helps.
Ron
If you can afford a $15,000.00 animal, you can most certainly afford to buy normal adult females to breed your male to. With that said, I can't see why someone would consider breeding loans with a person who has normal adult females when you can simply buy your own.
I can, however, see a breeding loan happening if someone has extra mojave females and you only have a male or if they have adult females of some particular morph that you'd like to cross your Mojave with. Other than that, don't hold your breath waiting for someone willing to do a breeding loan using a Mojave to someone with normal females. It aint gonna happen.
In some cases people will do breeding loans with people they don't know that well. Also the MORPH animal stays with the OWNER of the morph and female would be loaned to the Owner of the MOJAVE, ETC. I have done this with the pastel morph. But RULES are applied so that the MORPH OWNER wins no matter what since the Normal Female is just that NORMAL. I usually do First baby MORPH belongs to the Owner of the father morph, then second goes to the female owner, then 3rd goes to the father morph owner again and so on. Here are my reasons for doing a breeding loan with someone who hs normal females...
1) The person with the Mojave only has a limited number of females and wants more babies.
2) The person with the Mojave's females have not yet started so he try's to stimulate breeding by throwing more females in the cage.
I know most people don't do things this way but I am sure it happens. Thanks David

Speaking as an owner of a breeding Mojave male, I would never consider a breeding loan and/or accept someones females for the following reasons:
1. You have to quarantine animals and I would NEVER risk putting a $15k animal with a non-quarantined animal.
2. Why would I split the clutch with someone just because s/he supplied a normal female to me? I have a $15k animal and s/he has a $300 animal. The worse case scenario would be that I'd keep ALL the mojaves and give them a few normal animals. What justification is there for them to receive any mojaves?
Trust me, you can find normal adult females if you have the cash. Furthermore, I'm confident that this person will receive ZERO posts from Mojave owners looking to do a breeding loan with someone for their female normals.
I'm not being argumentive, I'm just sharing my thoughts as a Mojave owner.
I agree with you. If I owned a Mojave, there is no way that I would do a breeding loan with a person with a normal female and give them a Mojave. All the normal females, I can see, but no way to do Mojave for a normal female.
The only way that I can see this happen is if the owner of the Mojave had NO females to breed him to and the female had been bred before and usually has 10-15 eggs. That way the owner of the Mojave would make out like a bandit. How many Mojave owners do not have females? None probably. Anyone willing to throw down $15K knows what they want to do. You cannot breed an animals without an opposite sex.

Very well spoken and I concur.

It would be silly give the owner of a normal female a mojave in a case like that. When I first got a mojave. I had several people wanting to do breeding loans. It would be like giving away 10 grand or more. i did not have any real big females once the mojave got here. I just put ads in the paper and signs up at gocery stores. I also put a word in with the local pet store as well. Now I have 9 breedable females and several other smaller to medium size females. So it is not hard to come across good size females you have to put in a little effort.

You are right Thomas. It is not hard to come across mid to large female balls. I was just saying that to be funny. I guess it is harder to pass humor when you are typing than I thought. Oh well, I will continue to try.
You have a beautiful Mojave by the way. Interested in a breeding loan on a normal female.
Jason
That's if you want to help someone get a start. No other reason to do it.
Thanks Ralph

loan where both breeders have a particular morph. For example, I have an albino male and someone has a pied male. I would send a female to him to breed to his pied and he would send his female to me to breed to my albino. You can figure out how to split the results. This way, the high-dollar animal remains in the relative safety of its owner. This could be an inexpensive and quick way to expand your collection.

Makes sense...Especially if you'd like to introduce new blood into your bloodline.
If I had a mojave I wouldn't loan him out, except maybe to a good personal friend or as a business deal with a highly well know and respected breeder. But of course if I could afford a mojave I could also afford enough females to keep him busy during the season. I would however consider doing a breeding loan on a pastel or albino level morph maybe even a pied, again it would have to be with someone, I would be comfortable with. But that's just me.
