Most T. sirtalis will take small fish readily. Once you get him eating these, you can use them to scent pinkies. If he won't take fish, try scenting a washed pinki with frog.

Yup, small fish is a good thing to try. I found bait store minnows to be very cost-effective. My garters were so tiny when I got them that I had to cut one crappie minnow up into tiny chunks. They eventually got big enough to swallow one whole and then moved on to pinkies. Yesterday they each ate two pinks.

how often do you need to feed them? Are they any differant than other snakes, or do they need to be fed often?
Actually, baby garters should be fed much more often than most other snakes of the same size. Especially while they are still eating fish. Every day or two would be good. If and when they switch over to rodents, you can feed them much less often.
how many bait store minnows should u feed them at a time?
