How do milk and corn snakes get their names?

I believe milksnakes get there name b/c some people thought they drank milk from cows. I hear corn snakes got there name b/c of the pattern of there belly looks like corn or something. hope this help

I always thought it was because where they were found most of the time. Milks in the barn eating mice...corns in the field eating mice. I'm sure the milksnake thing started from someone misreading what they were seeing. It was probably chasing a mouse and the farmer caught the snake prowling under the cow. I can hear it now: "I'm tellin' ya, it was drinking the cow's milk! Then it bit it's tail and rolled like a hoop right outta the barn! Almost bit me as it rolled by!"
