Hey there I am kinda in a difficult decision, should I or shouldn't I. I have cut open a ball egg that was almost totally collapsed, ther is an actual healthy looking ball in there I was careful not to cut the veins . It has been like that for 24 hours it seems fine . SHould I or should I not cut it all the way open it is day 59 it is moving and looks lively ?

Please help I know was dumb but i thought it would be dead!!

It is okay to cut a little hole, about the size of a quarter
or even larger. That should allow the babye to climb out on
their own. Don't worry...they will come out (unless they
are actually in bad shape to begin with). You do not want to
remove the baby from the egg prematurely, because it needs time
to finish getting as much nutrient (ie. yolk) from the egg as
possible before emerging. Good luck!

...Perhaps enlarge the hole (nickel-sized hole). Do NOT remove from the egg yet, that could be very traumatic. At 88-89F it probably should have left the egg on its own but your temps might have been lower. If it's not deformed it'll leave the egg on its own; if deformed, it may try to leave the egg and not be able to. You'll know soon enough. Scott J. Michaels DVM
