Calligaster Range aka Pararie King Range

just curious whats the rang of pararie kingsnakes? are there in georgia?

Sort of...they're called "mole kings" in that region.

I am aware of the mole kings around here in GA. But is the calligaster found here? I looked on your map gas included but is that for the mole kings instead? looks like i may have to get a plains rat snake if calligasters are in ga as a substitute. but cali kings are my favorite kings.

They're one and the same species, just different subspecies. Prairie kings are Lampropeltis calligaster calligaster, mole kings are Lampropeltis calligaster rhombomaculata. The map I show is for the entire species (both prairie and mole).

I don't know how specific the Georgia snake regs are pertaining to what you can and can't keep. Some states specify subspecies, others do not. From what I gather, prairie kings are not found in GA, but mole kings are. If GA differentiates the subspecies in their regs, then you should be all set.

I plan on contacting the local dnr office and asking them that way I would know if they are illegal or not.
