PICS of my albino Dragon!!

Kyle05 Jul 08, 2003 08:19 PM

You guys are suckers! I guarentee almost everyone looks at this post that uses this forum, but I see posts, about serious things that go unanswered every day (I know because it has happened to me). Maybe its just me, but there is something wrong with that. This forum is for information!!! Not hey take a look at my newest dragon (besides isnt that a form of advertisement??). Its fun to post pictures, but there is a plce for that here on Kingsnake. Do it there!! Please Please Please take consideration for the people that need all you experience keepers help, and lets slow down a bit on the pictures. I almost guarentee this goes ignored, and posts will still be covered up by other posts of pictures. Unless a moderator would maybe do something about it. But I doubt that happens either. Either way, please take in to consideration the others and slow down on the pictures! Thanks
Kyle

I know I myself come here daily, and answer as much as I can, or answer to what I have experience with. Never came here to only see pics or looked at the top post only. Most regulars here will look at every post they are trying to help with to give follow up info if needed. I check back days to what I posted a reply too, and check every one from the current day. I saw your post and have no experience with that, and passed it up. I also saw your remark about pics, oh well people enjoy those too. It's a public forum most people who have been here for a while are interested to see new babies, dragons that grew up, or dragons you even had a hand in helping. Every pic is marked with a Image icon your albino dragon did not have that. From now on if your not interested in photo's don't click on the ones that say image.

i enjoy the pics at the forum, and everything else too, the forum is about sharing stories about our dragons, pics, problems, for whatever and yes sometimes other things and pics get posted that arent dragon related however they are by people with common interests and sometimes in talking about our dragons other thigns come about such as other pets etc and we have become friends with people here and we end up sharing those things too, anyhow, i dont see a problem with the forum, or the pics that are posted, i love seeing pics of everyones dragons and i hope everyone keeps posting them along with their questions, stories and everything else.....

CheriS Jul 08, 2003 11:15 PM

with all you said...plus

This is the place for pictures, thats what the image bar is and the advance for directions for mutilple posts.

Some of us that have been here a long time, remember baby pictures of others dragons and we share them growing up, breeding, having offspring and sadly even sometimes passing away..... its the life cycle of bearded dragons, not just pictures of illness or other complictions, this is the bearded dragon forum, not BD health.

If that is what you want, there are list and forums for that also, but please, don't stop the posting pictures of dragons that many of us grow to care about much like our own.

I often think of LindsayMarie and her Ariel, Suzanne and her Anna, many more I can not think of right now, dragons that passed away but we watched them grow up, have babies and those babies grow, it adds much to this forum, not distracts from it.

I think about Carrick and watching him grow and change so beautifully each month, Chris and his dragons as young ones, now parents and seeing their gorgeous offspring. Little Frank and Olga and their handicaps being overcome. Woodrow, who I wanted named Wilson when his owner was deciding a name.......Mickey, The Lizard King, who put a picture of beautiful 2 month old girl up and that Joel beat me to the show in Tampa to buy, but now she is grown and her babies are being pictured on here and I still get to see her and her offspring.... how can you find this bothersome? I love it!

Kyle05 Jul 08, 2003 11:31 PM

Ok, you have a few points and I to like pictures. Again not saying I'm right, but posts still get passed up. And thats not right. I'm not just saying this because of mine, but As I have looked through there are posts in there that have just seemed to be ignored totally. Sure you love seeing peoples stuff grow up, and it makes this place more homey, but how do you expect people to feel when they couldnt get help from what should be the best place to get help from? If not slow down on the pictures, at least look harder for those posts that are inbetween the pictures.

P.S. Mickey is an awesome guy, he lives real close to me. Those of you who knew him knew he loved his reptiles and especially his beardies. To bad he is out of the business isnt it!

Are ones that are the same question asked every other day. If people would scroll down half a page, they are likely to find the answer they are looking for. As, I said bellow, We answer questions because we like to,, or to help people. But it can get repetitive answering the same thing, day in and day out. If you look at the posts that are not answered,, I believe you will find that to be the case.
Don't get me wrong,, if I haven't seen a question asked for a while and (giving, I even think I can help) I will be more than happy to help out if I can.
I can't speak for everyone but that's how I see it.

Joel.

LdyPayne Jul 09, 2003 12:14 PM

Heck I have seen the same question asked three times in the same day, with all three barely a page from each other.

When I first started coming here I read about 3-4 pages of this forum before I even made my first post. I even remember somebody going a bit squrrely about having the same questions asked over and over again when the answer could so easily be found just by scrolling down the page or using the search feature. Though I understand how people just want to post and wait a few minutes for their question to be answered but in alot of cases, their question could be answered sooner if only a little searching is done.

Cheri, I named him Woodrow Wilson. He was actually supposed to go by Wilson. I have no idea why, but he ended up being called Woodrow. It seems that whenever I give a dragon two names, they end up being called by the one I didn't intend to use.

griffinej5 Jul 09, 2003 12:40 AM

Cheri, I attempted to respond to you, but the forum must not like me much right now. He is Woodrow Wilson. It just so happened that I ended up calling him Woodrow, however I did intend for him to be called Wilson. It seems that whenever I give a dragon two names, they end up being called by the one I didn't intend to use. Woodrow Wilson goes by Woodrow instead of Wilson, and it look like Erik Magnus my rankins is going to be Erik, and not Magnus like I had intended. The only one who actually gets the name I intended for him to have is Tehko, because my little sister named him, and she only wanted to give him one name.
Anyway, Woodrow Wilson does appreciate being recognized i'm sure, but he would appreciate it more if there were food involved in it.

CheriS Jul 09, 2003 06:20 PM

I take it that he is growing and doing well then?

I really liked the name Wilson when you first suggested it and have been waiting for us to have one that would fit the name. It so reminds me of volleyball in the Tom Hanks movie that became his friend and sanity through the time on the deserted island.. very symbolic for a dragon I think.

I am one of the newbies to this forum. I enjoy the pictures because I am learning all about the different crosses and how each cross can have several different looks for each of the clutchmates. ( I guess that's the right term. Sorry if not.)Education isn't just verbal and written. I for one can learn a great amount by looking at photos. Guess we all learn differently. Keep the pictures comming. I would love to see photos of housing and setups as well. I do say if you don't like at photos maybe we don't like being decieved by your subject line. Eye for an eye. Sorry to upset you but this is an open forum for the education and discussion of Beardies. Text books have pictures too.

Hey, there are reasons why things don't get answered. One of these reasons is because we don't know the answer. We don't want to give bad advice, so it's best not answering sometimes. The other case is that maybe the question is repetitive. We all could tell that there were no pictures in here, because there was no picture icon. I simply wanted to see what this was about. Certainly if someone posted a picture of an albino dragon, people would want to see it. That's not something we see everyday. I like seeing pictures of beardies too. Why? Because they are cute. If they weren't cute I probably wouldn't have as many as I do.

Kyle05 Jul 08, 2003 10:11 PM

You guys are missing the point!

Posts shouldnt be covered up because there are pictures surrounding it. And everyone loves pictures (me included) but there is a place for that is what I'm saying, you can even coment on them. Couldnt we just try and do pictures in a little more moderation here, like if they are actually helping some one see how MBD effects a dragon, or if some one specifically asks about a morph? Just my thoughts, I'm not saying I'm right, but it could make the forum a little more helpful to those of us who need help!

I personally think people posting their pictures of their dragons helps "personalize" the forum and help give a "face" to the screen name and what not. I also think it helps give the forum a community feel to the regulars here and makes it a more enjoyable place to come and visit. I personally love seeing all of the beautiful dragons a lot of the regulars have on here.

I don't think you should rely so much on this forum that you can't scroll past the posts that have images inside them. I suggest getting the book, "The Bearded Dragon Manual" by Philoppe de Vesjoli (ok i know the spelling is WAY off) if you need that much help. That will answer most of your questions and if you have specific questions that need answered post them... lots of great people on here to help and give advice... but most of us are not experts.. just hobbyist with opinions.

Also, if you don't like the images here, there are other forums out there you can read and goto. I don't know what would be a violation of the TOS, but there is a mailing list you can sign up for that maybe would be better suited for you? If you want the link, check out my site on the links page or email me and i'll be glad to give it to you... i don't know if posting here would be a violation or not so I won't do it.

Sorry for the long post. If you have specific questions ask them, if we can help we will.

I don't recall this being an information only forum. Just think how boring that would be. I can tell you now,, if it had to be strictly ask & tell, I wouldn't be here, neither would a whole lot of people.
So,,, then who would be here to answer your questions?

This is a community who likes to share stories, events, and individual dragons, etc. We take the time to help when we can but it's not something we have to do, we do it because we like to, along with all the other stuff we can do here.

Sorry you feel that way.

that is an excellent point. Why would experts just hang out on a forum in order to answer people's questions? The feeling of community is what brings the experts looking for more people like themselves. The photos create that. By attracting experts that allows newbies access to this valuable knowledge resource.

And seriously, there are LOTS of posts that don't get answered cos they ARE repetitive. That's one of the reasons I stopped going to the newt and salamander forum. All questions get asked again and again. That's why I built my page, and people still ask the same questions again and again failing to check out the FAQ. Sometimes people just want you to do everything for them. I'm just not into that.

LdyPayne Jul 09, 2003 12:25 PM

Pictures are great to see and I am glad to have so many pictures to view and to have a place where i can share images of my own dragon to other owners and future owners. Heck if it wasn't for places like this I probably wouldn't know as much as I do about bearded dragons.

It is great that kingsnake and pethobbyist provides space on their servers for photos to share with others free, with additional space available at a small fee.I think these forums contain a high quality of people to ask questions and see their own bearded dragons.

I personally try to read every single post and will respond to most when I feel confident I have some good suggestions and know the answer. If I don't know the answer then I don't typically post. As mentioned in my other post under this topic many questions are very repetative and I really don't like answer the same question three times in one sitting. There have been many days when I would give a detailed list of what is good to feed a bearded dragon only to find the exact same question is asked 5 threads above the thread I just answered.

Thera Jul 09, 2003 08:49 PM

I read lots of posts here, but I don't answer them because I think there are people more suited to answer those questions since I am not what I'd consider expert on this forum.
Besides the fact that my main hobby is newts and salamanders, I run one of the world's largest newt and salamander webpages and field about 5 to 20 questions via email a day.

Sometimes it's just nice to see some cute dragon photos. Plus it gives me an idea if what healthy animals look like. Which is BONUS if you're going to be a reptile vet, don't you think

...I'm barely a year into my addiction of these wonderful creatures, myself. I gather info from here & lots of other places. I find diversity in resources helps us learn better. I've had questions I needed answered "skipped over," too, but I've always been helped by the archives when a particular question hasn't been replied to. I've found that my questions have always been answered, just maybe not at the time I've asked them. I've had to jumble search tems to find the answers, sometimes, but that's no big deal. Sometimes I like to look at the pictures, sometimes I don't. I certainly don't like seeing the same questions asked over & over again. May I suggest you do what I do with this forum, or any other for that matter--take what you like & leave the rest.

I sure hope that people DON*T stop posting pics of their dragons here at the forum! I just love the mix of everything here. Some serious posts, some lighter, some photos and so on...

And maybe the reason for not replying to "serious questions" is that people really don't know the answer...? If *I'M* not SURE - I don't reply... I would hate to give the wrong advice/answer...

Kyle - Stop being annoyed and read the posts *you* want to read and ignore the rest. This is a forum for everyone that loves beardies... there is no rule against posting pics....
