Wild Caught BP w/ belly scale rot, how to treat & what is it?

stevodod Mar 13, 2005 09:00 PM

Hey,

My wild caught recent import female ball python has a skin disease. She was imported in the summer and I purchased her as a non feeder with ticks, which I've cleared up (she still hasn't eaten). Now, she has a belly problem. At first, the belly scales each swelled up with fluid. Now they have peeled but are bloody & tender. I've been treating it with SSD antibiotic cream and bi-weekly soakings. Any advice on what to do? I've increased temps & humidity, but now I'm thinking I need to dry her out.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,

steve

Dry her out, keep her away from the rest of your collection AND buy captive breed animals in the future........ Support your local breeders........

I would keep her dry and move her into another room keep her away for your collection. Hope she feels better soon. Thanks Scott Glover

I use 50% peroxide 50% water and wipe the belly down once a day......keep in dry environment..........not too humid.............just my method.
