Dude,

Chuck poo is quite variable in size, but can generally be identified by the grass components on the inside. Use a stick or a rock, and find a scat. Use said tool, open it up. If there is fiberous, grassy material inside, you have a pretty fair shot of at least finding one herbivorous lizard in that area, if not a small Desert Tortoise. Chucks are running in full force out my way. Went out yesterday and found 5. Interestingly, three were found together. A male (younger approx 6"SVL) a female(6"SVL) and a hatchling all on top of one another. Not particularly smart Chucks either. I got way too close and they didn't even take notice. Getting pics developed within the week. Found a yellowish Mojave Collared Lizard also. Never seen a yellow one before..... pretty cool. Anyway, happy spring! (almost)

regards,
-Phil

i cannot wait to even See my first real chuck up close, only ones ive seen in wild in joshua tree, while road cruisin i saw large dark lizards sunning on the sides of rock piles, obviously chucks, about two years ago. My book says that chucks are mostly South Eastern point of california... but ive heard people finding them very northernly of my book(peterson field guide to western u.s. reptiles/ amphibions)... and still, please post pics of creosote bush. thanks, nick.

p.s. did u get a pic of the collard? that sounds neat.
