kfactor Mar 13, 2005 11:08 PM

I just got a new hide on my warm side and i`ve noticed my leos are never in it so i checked the tile with my hand and it feels kinda to hot and i have 3 tiles thick so far on the warm side and the heats still coming through too much how many tiles thick do you think would be perfect for the right temps?

I've put a quarter inch of sand under the tile, it seem to insulate well, giving just a nice warm feeling. The under tank heater is under the aquarium glass, a quarter inch of sand then my tile. Work well for me.

Are you using a rheostat, thermostat or even a dimmer to control your heat source?

Go to walmart, homedepo, lowes, radio shack, etc.
Get a digital indoor/outdoor thermometer for about
$10.00.
Put the probe in the basking area. switch the toggle to
outdoor. And you can see what your accual temperature is.

Don't use the stick ons or dial thermometers the petstores
sell you. Waste of your money.

Unless you have mercury fingers. Your hand is not accurite
enough.LOL
