My favorite 04 baby

Rick Millspaugh Mar 14, 2005 12:01 AM

No spectacular by most standards but he was my favorite 04 baby, I would have kept this guy if he had of been a female. Just really appealed to me.

Hopefully this link to a pic of Mom works. She is a very nice orange Milksnake Phase with reduced black. Her colors have stayed bright with just a touch of graying showing up on her sides (she is three this year). I do not have a good pic of Dad, he grayed out quit a bit during this past winter, I'll see if I can remember to get a pic.

Nice looking milksnake phase...Was the male a milksnake phase as well or a leonis?....Just goes to show us how variable these snakes are.
Do you know the bloodlines of them Rick? They look very much like some Vivid offspring I have produced...Not all of mine are as nice looking as those orange ones, but I have had them throw a couple "keepers".

Here is a pic of one of my female breeders (Vivid line).

Here is a pic of the male that is paired up with her. He looks much like your female above Rick.

The dad of these three babies, infact both males I have used are orange Leonis Phase. They are a mix of Vivid, Dan's, and a small assortment of other breeders' stock. I drove to Tucson from San Diego to pick the best I could get from Dr. Mark Wolfenson. He bought his from the above breeders. He tries to breed a Leonis to a Milksnake in all his pairings. Seems like a good idea to me, keeps things mixed up.

Thoughs are very nice Milksnake Phase! It will be interesting to see the babies.

I can't wait to see the babies from my orange milksnake phase pair either. The male is also going to be paired with a buckskin leonis. I usually like to mix things up as well. This is the first year, actually that I have ever bred milksnake phase to milksnake phase. I am nearly 100% sure some leonis phase will hatch from these two. I have bred leonis to leonis and some milksnake phase offspring have always been produced.
That is what makes Thayeri so fun....

Here is a clutch from a 2003 leonis to leonis pairing. 3 milksnake phase and 5 leonis...

Must be "different", to say the least, up north. You guys have to make sure it doesn't get to cold during the winter for your hibernating snakes and us down south are building air conditioned hibernation chambers to keep them cool enough.....
Our Spring is strange here.....Sunday it hit a record 94 degrees but cool fronts are blowing in now and it is in the 50s again...
I think these are the last of the cool fronts this spring....

Good luck with your breeding projects. Keep me/us posted guys.

Chris, Thanks. But she is no comparison to that florescent Milk Snake phase of yours! Wow!
