if you are asking "is it bamboo?"

no it's not.

they sell several plants in the foo-foo pots for a lot more than they really cost and call them Bamboo.

depending on the one you get you may have one of 3 or 4 different kinds of plant.

you can do the exact same thing by growing the plant and when it gets too tall you cut it up and keep the up end pointed up and put it in water or soil.

they will sprout and grow from the joints.

real bamboo has a hollow stem, is hard like wood, the leaves are not the same as that stuff, and real Bamboo will not grow from a stem cutting -- has to grow from seed or from root sections.

Well I know it's not real bamboo, but do you know if its safe for Gizmo? If not, what is the best live plant that I could put in his tank?

Ok, hard to say if it's safe with out a proper id of the plant.

if you seach here and on google there are datbases of toxic plants that will help.

in general if it's toxic to us then it's not good for them.

one plant I know is ok is Jade Plants
http://www.thegardenhelper.com/crassulaargentea.htm
on a large plant they can climb on it as a basking bush.

also in general plants that are members of the rose and lillly family tend to be safe and edible. examples: rose family includes apple trees, and strawberries, rose leaves and flowers not treated with pesticide are safe to eat but throns woould keep me from using the plant witn a dragon.

lilly family includes spider plant
http://www.thegardenhelper.com/spiderplant.htm
Chlorophytum comosum

also hybiscus is safe.

and this link has good info:
http://www.anapsid.org/mainplants.html

but many plants will be destoyed by a dragon so be ready to toss and replace them ...
and watch out for water related issues: fungus, bugs etc...
