Anyone found any snakes out yet this year??? If so what all have you seen? Same with Lizards...what is out?
Planning a trip down there soon. But I need to know if its worth it yet!

i live in the phx metro area. i don't go herping but i can tell you its probably still to cold for snake to be out yet. they are getting snow up in the flagstaff area and here in the valley it's been cool still. we had a few days of temps in the 80's but now it's back down to the 70 degree range in the day.

That stinks.
Yeh I am up in Idaho and the weather did the same thing here. It was in the 70's and sunny for like a litle ove r a week. Lizards came out, but no snakes. But now its back down in the 50's again! And looking to be rainy all week. So sad.
I am getn way too impatient.

I live in Las Vegas (Henderson actually) and it has cooled off slightly since last week. I will try to keep you posted as I will start field herping soon. I do know of a friend of mine who has seen two Lyre Snakes recently while hiking in the rocky hillsides.

Cool thanks! =)
Never seen a Lyre snake before.
Vegas is much closer to me, but seems like AZ warms up first.
It was warm here too, but this last week has cooled way off and been ugly. I am sad.

You can find snakes out ALL year here in AZ. They don't get up and move much in the cold months, but they are not hard to locate if you know about winter refuge and each species behavior patterns.

Without trying too hard (ie. I was out looking at wildflowers) I have seen atrox, Pitouophis, Trimorphodon, Salvadora all in the last few weeks in the Tucson vicinity, and know of those who have seen large numbers who were actually herping.
