They really both seem to get to the same surface temp, I just like the way the pro panel is built, and the way its attached a lot better than the helix. Helix is all plastic with a FRP faceplate. Mine were really fresh, so it took me a good 3 weeks to offgas these suckers. They have a plastic lip that goes around them also, which my snakes enjoy clinbing on. I'm afraid once my snakes fully grow, they will be so heavy that they'll rip the rhp from the ceiling. Also the pro panel bolts directly to the ceiling, the helix has 2 little things you screw up and slip the rhp into, then it's held up by the plastic. Not as sturdy at all.
I tried drilling some holes on that lip that comes out, then using washers and longer screws to hold one up, but it didn't seem to work too well. I'll have to modify it a little more in the near future.
My main problem with the helix is the outgassing. it's a pain in the butt and uses a lot of electricity (costs a lot of $$ on (3) 100 watt panels. During that month, the electricity bill jumped $50 extra. I blame the heaters for taking $20 of that, the rest was with the heaters I had running to keep the temps up in the garage to set the stain/polycrylic.)
If I had to do it again, i'd just order all pro panels.
