I just got my first eggs!!!!!

jtrott Mar 14, 2005 03:17 PM

I noticed last night that between Saturday night and Monday afternoon my female Crested laid 2 good eggs. I read somewhere down on the page that you should not breed a female less than 35 grams. I weighed her last night and she was 32 grams. Should I be worried? Both eggs were good and are now incubating at 77 degrees. If she is fine to breed at 32 grams, how soon should I expect more eggs. I read in Anthony's website that they can lay up to 18 a year, but 12 is more normal. Do they lay year round, or should I expect all 12 eggs in a matter of 9 months?

Please help, if I need it.

Jason

32 grams is pretty good, i wouldnt worry too much about that. if you want to plump her up a bit seperate her from the male for a while.

you should expect eggs about every 3 weeks while they are breeding regularly. Also, make sure that your female is getting a good diet and calcium/vitamin supplements during breeding because producing eggs can take a lot out of them!
