stupid question could rice be used as bedding? N/M

Rice will expand when it gets wet...I don't know if that could be a problem...if your snake ingests some rice as it hides under it (depending on the snake), it may expand in its stomach...I'm not sure though...I would stay away from rice, unless it was for me!!!

There are a couple things to think about in this. Will it absorb urine and whatever comes out of your snake? yes, eventually. Will take a day or two.

Will it have any germ fighting properties to it? no.

So what kind of germs will be bred? Everything possible. This will cause horrific odors eventually, and potentially give you a very dangerous environment for your snake. I just wouldn't use it. Novel idea, however. I'll give you props for that

If you decide to try this, be sure to put the rice in the freezer for 24 hours before using to kill the grain mite.
