Male vs Female (sorry about the length)

darkflames Mar 14, 2005 06:31 PM

My brother recently purchased both a male and female Jackson Chameleion. We had to return the first female because she wasnt in the best of health. She was very stressed out and just would not change from black. We brought home the new female and the second she was put in the tank she turned brown and started rocking jerkily side to side. The male promptly came over and seemed gently pushed her, twice. She moved to the other side of the cage and the male has now left her alone. She seems to have calmed down a bit and is returning to a shade of green. The male has not come near her since. Should we be worried about the male being too aggressive toward her? Or is he simply trying to figure out who this newcomer is? Should we be concered about the female getting too stressed?

After the age of about 4 months all chameleons should be housed seperately and if your using a glass aquarium i would switch to an all screen cage. the glass holds too much heat and doesnt allow the needed air flow for chameleons. Reptariums are great and affordable they can be purchased at www.LLLreptile.com for about $23 a piece and a 22gallow would be more than sizeable for a jackson.
