Well, at least it's a good sign that she's even letting you pick her up, cuz many beardies won't even tolerate that! But usually many beardies get the spontaneous urge to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Mine does it all the time, which is why I keep a leash around his keister if he's outside. They don't always sit in one spot all the time, especially if they're out of the cage/tank after a long stay in. It's part of their adventurous/curious nature, and not because they don't like you.

If you have a hard time keeping your beardie still because he/she isn't used to handling, try placing him on you at night when they're already bedding down. If you remain still they'll fall asleep right on you, and it makes it easier for them to get used to you.

Just as a word of caution: There was a post a while ago about a beardie who died because it jumped from its owners shoulder. The Beardie fell about 5 feet & landed on the floor. I don't know if it applies to you but I thought I would share this with you.

or playing with a beardie.

That way if and they usually, sooner or later do try and jump, they will not get hurt.
They are not birds that can perch up high and then with ease make a soft landing Many times they will hurt a foot or leg from the jump.

I have some lizards that will climb to my head, not because they prefer to ride around on my head, but being the highest point, makes them feel more secure I suppose.

Just sit down on the floor and play, let him run , and begin to trust you, and he will come back and sit on you when he chooses/ and feels secure with you.

Good luck

I agree low to the floor is good. Hades has yet to jump from me but if he did, he'd land on my bed because it's right next to his tank and that's where I hold him is over my bed.

Also if you do not hold him/her close to the ground, then you could always put pillows around you that way if he/she does decide to jump they won't be hurt because the pillow will cushion the fall.
