Difference between argentines & colombians?

sugarfox03 Mar 14, 2005 10:52 PM

Can anyone tell me the difference between these two lizards? Size, color, temperament, etc...I am new to tegus, and want to get the most info possible on them before deciding they are an animal for me. Room is not a problem, I live in south FL, so I can build a huge pen outside for it to hang out in on nice days. Also, can anyone recommend a good book about them? Thanks so much!!

Argentine black and white tegus are generally easier to tame then Colombian black tegus.

It was my pleasure. Tegus are wonderful animals. I am glad to be able to share the knowledge I have picked up within the tegu hobby and hopefully you will do the same some day.

Hey I saw on Animal Cops, or something, and they caught some tegus in Florida that had been released by their owners. Maybe you have some in your backyard already! Oh, the pic is of Tika my male Colombian.
