Hey Keith, the NJ and NC snakes look similar to me, as compared to the more colorful wider bands from the southern ones. Excluding OBKs do Easterns for the most part look extremely similar north of NC? Are there some variants with red/yellow/orange bands north of NC? No need to be too specific, just wondering if most from that wide strecth of several states look very much alike. Tom Stevens

When we were all debating purity before I suggested that the Easterns from NC and up are more "Eastern" than the ones heading south. With the exception of a few spots the moniker of northern type Easterns is higher band counts that are thinner. There still is some variation though but not quite as varied as the animals from SC and below. More than likely its the influence of surrounding subs like the Apalachicola King and the Florida King and Nigra to some extent but I think Apalachicola or Goini Kings kick up most of the genetics into Georgia etc...

I really like that North Florida pair. Seems like that banded look is pretty common in that locale. I have a pair sold to me as N Florida locale ( which I can't verify absolutely) with that same appearance. They're coming up on 2 years, I think, and still look more banded compared to the classic "chain" pattern. All the animals in your post are great looking, as usual.

Yeah it seems like the animals from N fL and GA have a tendancy to eb more banded than chained. I used to not care for it but now I really like it.

Love that bright white and very dark (black?) background.

Still waiting on "Big John" (to get into the mood)! He does however seem to favor the big female you sent me over the other two that I've placed him with. On the first introduction she looked at Big John and said: "Daaaaaamn!!!" "I can't eat HIM - he's WAYYYYYYYYY to BIG" , LOL!!! (I guess the big girl finally met her match)

Those Columbia Co., Fl Easterns are sweet Keith. Can't wait to see the offspring from those. By the way, how's the weather up there in Wisconson? Still getting snow? We had highs in the 80s yesterday but I'm still not finding much down here. I'll be hitting GA this weekend and the next so I hope to have few Eastern pics to post soon!
