Running around the floor!

Slaytallica Mar 15, 2005 03:13 PM

Hey, My room has a desk, the beardie cage, the dresser, the closet, the bed.. So much you could lose a beardie under. I really feel the urge to let him explore since he runs around his cage so much, he is now about a year and a half old and 13" ... anyone have any tips on making a.. playpin?

look for things within a foot of the floor and safegaurd that.

example: anything he might try to climb and knok over.

also I have found that a dragon may not "see" a blank white surface as a "Wall" and run right into it.

I used some blue painters masking tape along base baords, now my bd "sees" a dark barrier and stops in time.

also a dragon will find the smallest darkest place to hide when it wants to sleep, sometimes smaller than you think. so be ready for him/her to crawl into a very tight spot and sleep there.

and watch out for doors and the gap between the door frame and the side the hinges attach to. they will try to crawl thru that gap and may then get stuck. and you sure do not want to move that door if they are in that gap!!!!

and plan for poop on the carpet you will have to clean up!

some notes from my exp. with my draon who is lucky and has a whole apt. to roam with no cats, dogs, small children etc...
I have about 1,000 sq feet and my dragon goes from room to room during the day.... but I am very carfull to keep things such that he can't get behind for example the stove and fridge etc...

just a warning, I'd be wary of any material that they could possibly climb...wouldn't want to take any chances on a fall...
