U.ebenaui

Leland Mar 15, 2005 04:48 PM

Is there anyone on this forum that has successfully bred and reared U.ebenaui? I only know of one person for sure (Neil Meister) that has bred these guys successfully? I'm working on it, but I still would like to hear from someone else that shares the interest I have for this highly overlooked species. Thanks.

I picked up a pair a couple months ago that show signs of breeding activity. I am new to Uro's, so I will have to wait and see. If you want to compare notes or confer, feel free.

There are several people on this forum that have successfully bred U. ebenaui. I think both Boy and Leah (screen names) have bred this species.

I was just wondering Boy, do they seem prolific once they start producing? Or did you only get a clutch or two from each female? I guess what I want to know is, was there any consistency? I am very fascinated with the U.ebenaui, I keep a couple other Uroplatus, but I just find the eben's fascinating. I really like this genus of gecko. They are very fascinating and I think over the next few years things will be very neat to see how things develop. Any tips Boy, i'm basically just expecting them to do it on there own like other Uro's. See ya.

hows this for consistency...

12/22/03 2 eggs
1/22/04 2 eggs
2/24/04 2 eggs
3/21/04 2 eggs
4/24/04 2 eggs
5/20/04 2 eggs
6/22/04 2 eggs
7/21/04 2 eggs
9/22/04 2 inferts

3 survivors over the whole year because I wasn't sure how to incubate them or care for the young. That first month of life is rough.

1/17/05 2 eggs
2/22/05 2 eggs

waiting for the next pair this week.

I know in the past when some people say they are consistent, they don't really get down into the details. But thats my breeding log for last year and the beginning of this year.

hopefully you'll have better luck with them this year. think you've got all of the incubation down and the feeding issues worked out?

boy Mar 18, 2005 12:14 PM

For the most part, yes. However, now it just a matter of lack of time on my end. good thing I'm reducing my collection a little. We'll see where this all goes though. Hopefully this year will be just as successful but with stronger animals.
