I'm getting some more....

justin stricklin Mar 15, 2005 07:37 PM

I am going to get 1 pair of greens and 1 pair of browns from someone in Florida abot next week. I could use some pics of both now that I am getting some. I cannot find many pics of them. Just a few here and there. Oh, and you remember that little diamond back that I got. The female that I nver did take a pic of? Reason I did not get the camera out around it is becuase Iw as giving it plenty of piece as it went down hill from the 2nd day I had it. I'm not to sure why. It just never settled in. It regurged the pinky that I fed it and had no good appetite. It was a little dehydrated when I got it but it was very minor and it actualy did not look dehydrated at all on the 2nd day. Back to the drawing board I guess. I am blaming it on parasites. I wormed it properly too. Any Ideas

Here is my orange green water if you did not see it before. You need more pics of normals? OK. I see them all the time and can send a few pics.

Whats the story withy that beauty? I know red-greens are from south Florida, but where did you get it, how long have you had it, whats the genetics?

Did you see the parents? Or know anything specific about their locality in the wild?

Cool snake!

Jim, found it myself in a specific locale in south florida. I found two females, both of which have been released however I will try to get another this year and breed them eventually. The majority of greens down here have a tinge of red to thier neck areas and some places have this orange type, but is a matter of luck finding one when you really need to find one. In this particular case, I was actually looking for one for a photo for a friend and found another weeks later. Its is indeed neat that this this snake occurs in the same range as the everglades rat occurs.

Interesting. Do they keep the orange as they get older or lose it as they mature?
Post some pics if you get them.

I do not know but I assume they are not as bright as they mature. Heck, they grow so fast that they shed just about every month or every other months, hence you see them all bright and shiny for about a week or two and then they start the molt stuff.

If you ever have any offspring of those, I am interested in them of course.
