Hey everyone...My girlfriend has two leos. Now I don't know much about leos because I only breed and keep snakes. However, lately I been concern because I feel she is over feeding the leos. She feeds the leos everyday. She alternates between crickets and waxworms. Is she feeding them to much? Can anyone tell how often you feed your leos and what you feed them. Also for some reason every pet shop in new york city had no crickets or waxworms today so I bought pinkies for them to eat. My girlfriend was a bit skeptical about feeding them pinkies but I knew they would eat it. Does anyone feed their leos pinkies and how often...Thanks in advance...-ELvy

It all depends on how old or how big the leos are. I need more information. You should not feed the leos pinkies if they are still real young, they are to big.

Feeding the leos with crix everyday is okay but waxworms every other day is too much. Waxworms are very high in fat and low in good nutrition (like junk food for human) so once a week as treat is good. I am not big on feeding leos pinkies but I know a lot of people do especially for females to fatten them up just prior to breed them. And yes make sure they are old enough before feeding them pinkies.

I wouldn't feed your leo wax worms all the time, they are very addicting. Once a leo is hooked on waxies its very hard for them to get off of, they could refuse all other foods.

I feed my adults every other to every 2 days. With my babies I feed them every day but I alternate every other day with either mealies or cix.

If your gf still wants to feed other items try some super worms or even butter worms. Butter worms look liek wax worms but they come in colors like yellows, oranges, pinks, and they are high in calcium and much better to feed than waxies. If you feed waxies, feed them as a treat only. I'll give my leos waxies once in a great while, other wise I dont use them to feed.

I feed my adults that will eat them pinkies. All my babies and juvies get small crix and mealies every day to every other. My adults eat mainly superworms(zoophoba) every other to 3 days and do very very well. The superworm is a blessing to me. I would not feed alot of waxies they are fattening and not the best kinda like living on Big Macs.-Geeboo
