Anyone know where to find....

leopardgex0203 Mar 15, 2005 11:21 PM

anyone know where to find a good thermostat or rhenostat(spelling?) on the internet? i don't want a really expensive one just a trustworthy one. I am getting a rack system for my geckos from Boaphile Plastics really soon and i need one to hook up to it...Any comments on Boaphile Plastics are appreciated too on how they are with customers and such and peoples thoughts on them. Thanks for reading my post.

I just myself ordered a boaphile rack for my leos and kingsnakes. I have to say, I'm EXTREMELEY unimpressed with boaphile. They won't have my business again. While the rack is functional, the more I look, the more I realize AP or Vision would have been a better choice. In addition I have had a horrific time dealing with them! They talk of quick shipping and speedy customer service, which is BS. Their products are supposed to ship out 2-4 weeks after the order is places. 5 weeks after I placed my order I still hadn't even heard from boaphile. I called them, and was told that the rack would ship the following monday, they were a little behind. Come monday, no shipping confirmation. It wasn't until over a week later (7 weeks after order placement) that my item shipped. In addition, there are tidbits all over there site about how they cannot be beat as far as price cause shipping is included. Back to your point, thermostats, they recommend that you go with their thermostats, the cheapest being 100 bucks. Thats frickin ridiculous, a convienently disguised side cost. Ugggh sorry to go on for so long about Boaphile, I'm just extremely frustrated. Oh well, I am in the same boat as you, needing a thermostat for my boaphile rack, only mine definately won't be purchased from boaphile.

I bought my brand new Ranco controller for $60 on Ebay which was a bit much because right after that auction another went for $40. All you have to do is wire them up yourself.

Hey,

I'll post a link to a more affordable Thermostat, but I really don't know how good it is.. Hopefully someone here has purchased this item and can say something good about it. I was looking at it for my rack system, it looks like it's easy to use and effective-- But again, maybe someone can fill us in on this product. Take care.

where do you leave the probe with your 500 R . I have one that i got from that site, but im not sure whwere to leave the probe. I dont want it to bother my leo and/or be an eyesore. thanks. mine was 23 plus s/h from the website in the last comment.

I run my probe thru the back corner of the tank (all of my kids are in 20L's) and run it's cord down the seam of the corner and tuck the probe end between my humid hide and the other hide on the warm end. I do the same with my digital thermometers that are on all my tanks. I can try to get a pic if you want but my digital camera sucks.
