How can I tell if my uro is dehydrated?

racheebabe Mar 16, 2005 12:11 AM

I have a few questions: HOw can I tell if my uro is dehydrated? I think she is shedding over previos sheds, what can I do do fix this? Are you supposed to feed uros fresh veggies everyday? I think I may be feeding mine too often, she could be over weight. Someone please help me I am a new owner and I want to take good care of her.

well, if you are feeding lots of leafy greens daily then your uro should be getting enough water. however you can try soaking your uro in warm shallow water, however dry him off when done especially his tail so water does not get trapped in it. if it seems like his shed is really stuck you can try rubbing mineral oil on it (usually located in the laxative aisle of a pharmacy, it is just liquid vasoline) usually that will help loosen the skin. uros take a really long time to shed though.
i feed my uros daily. if you have not checked it out, look at deerfernfarms.com he has lots of nice and healthy uros to look at. also there are good caresheets on the kingsnake (there are links at the top of the page)
