Cricket infestation

redeye48 Mar 16, 2005 06:07 AM

I have kept crickets for the last few years. About three weeks ago, 50 or so got out and have made there way into the walls etc. I live in an apartment building and in last week my building has had crickets entering others apartments. Clearly the escaped crickets have found a home somewere in the walls, are breading etc. Any suggestions? I am calling an exterminator, but want to know if anyone else has had this happen and hopefully its something that will go away given the limited food supply. I cant imagine how they are surviving. Should I use glue traps first? Any suggestions would be appreciated. At this point my apartment building now things I am truly nuts.

Coming from a pest control expert (exterminator) don't call 1..Your wasting your money..Crickets generally live to be 8 weeks anyways and if the conditions aren't right they won't breed. Get a better container so more don't get out and buy the sticky traps. You'll be amazed how much money you'll save. PS, if you do hire an exterminator you will have to take all of your animals out of the house if you want the place sprayed. If I was doing your service I would probably only put glue traps down anyways so that I didn't kill any of your animals. Cheaper for you to do that.
