My bearded keeps waving his front arms around....

novakaine Mar 16, 2005 12:21 PM

This post is sort of an addendum to a post I made a few days ago about my sick bearded dragon. Rather than typing it all out again, I'm just gonna be slick and say "please read below."

Long story short, his front legs used to be paralyzed...and not they arent. He still isnt moving around much like he was 5 days ago and now whens hes basking, one of his front legs is always up in the air with no weight on it. He generally rotates which leg itll be and sort of waves it around a lot. Any thoughts?

in the books as a sign of submission "Hey, I'm a beardie, please don't eat me." Mine doesn't do it...but if you search the site for "waving" you'll see a lot of reports from people whose beardies do wave, or bob heads, or sleep standing in a corner, yadda, yadda, yadda. Beardies are nuts.

Sounds sort of like waving, but it could be something else as well. Dragons, and many ""desert"" lizards shift feet on hot surfaces to cool down the foot in the air and then switch again. Hope that makes sense! Either way, a normal behavior. No worries!
