heating and rocks

denise1 Mar 16, 2005 02:18 PM

I have a 75 gallon I'm desperately trying to get my beardie moved into...it's 48"x18"x24"...the temp in my home is 75degrees...the substrate is ceramic tile...I'm trying flood lights and spot lights... but haven't succeeded yet
any suggestions on a good type of rock for basking...I have two rocks, spent days cleaning, rinsing and drying to be on the safe side...and neither retains heat, they barely warm up...

for basking sites, for that very reason. It's an option, anyway.

I also think that in a large glass bottomed enclosure, a rock big enough to provide a good basking spot would be heavy enough to make me nervous. Don't know what you're using for a floor on your enclosure but it's a thought.

I usually use driftwood, but in some cages I have taken rocks from outside and used them. They seem to absorb heat really well. Slate is another good option.
