A man has been fined $4000 for illegally keeping boa constrictors, water dragons and newts in his home.
James Christopher Beable pleaded guilty yesterday to four charges of keeping illegally imported reptiles and keeping protected wildlife.
The Dandenong Magistrates' Court heard officers discovered two boa constrictors on a raid at Beable's home in June last year.
They also found five eastern water dragons and 84 Japanese fire-bellied newts at the Dandenong factory where Beable lived.
Beable, 26, was fined $2000 plus costs for keeping the reptiles and $2000 for possession of an illegally imported snake.
