IN Press: Owner thinks turtle was touched by the devil

Mar 17, 2005 11:27 AM

WXIN (Indianapolis, Indiana) 16 March 05 Owner thinks turtle was touched by the devil (Michael Moely)
Frankfort: So you've heard of the Virgin Mary grilled cheese sandwich that went for $28,000 on Ebay right? Well, whether or not you see the face of a devil on the shell of a red ear slider turtle, the owner's hoping the animal's story is another ebay hit.
"He was the only animal that survived in the whole pet store after the fire, he's a survivor and that says something," says turtle and pet store owner Bryan Dora.
Dora's Frankfort pet store burned down last October, the cause is still being determined. Now in an attempt to get back the money he lost, he's hoping to tell a story and sell it on Ebay. " We've made a DVD of our store, and the animals before it burned down, we showed how he was the only one that survived. It's kind of strange, I think that every fire leaves a mark of the devil somewhere and we didn't ever notice the mark on his shell before, so it's a little strange."
Dora says "Lucky" is very tame and he doesn't believe he's possessed, rather, touched and left to live.
Ebay does not allow the sale of animals, but Dora says he'll sell it outside of the auction for the right price. Dora hopes to have the story on Ebay by next week.

I just thought of something. Sliders are considered native to IN, and I think a new law was passed last year that made commercial use of native turtles illegal. This guy could get into trouble with this much publicity.
