Lampropeltis g. nigritus weight.

ohannah Mar 17, 2005 12:29 PM

Hi

What would be a good breeding weight for Lampropeltis g. nigritus, female & male? I've discovered that it's easy to measure snakes by weight and monitor growth .

Thank you.

W/ a name like OHannah.....this seems a bit elementary...but....like all western getulus...nigritus isnt often large & thus I suggest 28-32" 250-275 g. (2 years)for the boars & 30-34"/275-300 g for the sows. Better:... 1 m for all & 450 g.

Youre on track to monitor annual weight but also measre them when you exsercise them along along straight edges such as a wall.

Cheers, RxR

I just got my first female nigrita (or nigritus??) for my existing male in early March. I've noticed that she's smaller then previously described, but I really wanted to breed her THIS year, hence the question. Now I realise that she's too small. I'll have to wait till next year.

Thank you for your help.

P.S. Ohannah by no means states that I keep or deal with Ophiophagus hannah.
