My mom is planning on getting a snake for my 11 year old brother, we were thinking about getting him a garter snake. Do you think this is a good choice, do they mind being handled? Is there any type of garter snake that would be best? thanks.

I got my first a few months ago. A near full grown female texas checkard... she is the sweetest thing ever. Never musks or strikes... this is my only experience but it has been very good.
