wow, glad that ended well...

well, this all just happened in about 15 minutes, but as usual it freaked me out. i was looking over my animals this morning, doing my best to spot everyone, when i came to my satanic tank. i cant really always point these guys out, but 99% of the time i can at least point out a leg in they're "normal" sleeping spots. well, i was about to brush off the fact that i couldnt find one of my males off the bat, but then i looked at my henkeli enclosure, and noticed a tiny bit of poop on the outside. thats when i freaked. i didnt know who it was exactly, but the only thing thats gonna leave poop like that is gonna be one of my smaller gex. i checked the tank 10x over, and just couldnt find this one, so i frantically checked out everything in the area of the poop. it ends up that he went from his tank at the bottom, up the pole for the shelf it sits on, across and onto the henkeli enclosure, over a tiny little side-table, up the pole for a separate shelf, onto the top of my pietschmanni enclosure, to a tiny leaf the hovered about a cm away from the top of the tank that was hanging from a philodendron vine in a hanging plant. must have been quite an adventure for the little guy, but i found him curled up inside the plant. makes me glad i though to put random potted plants in my room partly to attract them when they escape. think like the lizard....

I found a male phant slinking into my closet wasteland of shoes, almost never to be seen again.. I left the tank lid off for 2 seconds to get a papertowel and found him about an hour later, completely by accident.

Thats way too funny,it just so happens that when i woke up this morning and walked by one of my tanks that had two young henkelis I noticed I did something extremely stupid, last night i left the lid a little off to the side.I started freaking, looked inside the tank and they were both gone, within a couple minutes my gf spotted one on the ceiling about 5 feet away.I was still upset cause one was missing and I didn't think I would find it,spent about 20 minutes looking everywhere when i heard my gf yell over here, there was the second one at the top of the stairs which is about 40 feet away for their tank.Man was I relieved and what a lesson I learned.

Had a couple snakes sneak out of cages, even some frogs, but by the far the worst for me was when I had two Sri Lankan Ornamental Tarantulas get out of an enclosure overnight once... So yeah, tell me you wouldn’t be worried even more when there are two 7-8 inch spiders lurking somewhere in your house… Spiders that are agile, flighty and like to hide in dark places… Not quick to bite in my experience, but they do pack one of the most irritating bites of all T’s… All beside that fact that they were worth about $250 a pop…

My animal room at the time happened to be my bedroom… Needless to say, I “stripped searched” the “animal room” for a couple hours and did eventually find them… Everything went out of the room one by one and was inspected… Imagine the places they could have been though… Amongst clothes, in shoes, in the BED, ect ect… I found one on the wall behind a dresser right away and the other on the top shelf in my closet under a garbage bag full of fake plants… NOT FUN…

hahahahha, that was funny Ben.

I have always wanted to get a BIG spider, maybe taranula but my husband would rather sleep in the YARD...........

then live with a BIG A$$ BUG loose in the bedroom LMAO

I'm sure you would have NOT had a good nights sleep, if you did not find them

I didnt have my first Indian Ornamental Tarantula 2 weeks and it mysteriously disappeared. Never did find it, even after days and days of combing the house. We ended up telling everyone(our son included) that it died....

Think it did die? After all that time if it were alive you would have seen it somewhere wouldn't you?

Funny!

Surely it died, or I would have found it by now... if it got out of the lizard room the cats would have got it or otherwise died... no idea...

haha yea i've had a crested get out once in my bedroom, i tore it apart piece by piece like 5x over. couldnt find it. so i used what i knew against him, and as soon as the sun set, all lights were off and doors were closed. eventually found her after about 4 or 5 days thirsty and hungry, but still intact!

and more on the previous post, another one of my males had gotten out a few weeks ago, and i hadnt even noticed until i went around a 2nd time for sprays and found him on top of my sikorae enclosure. theres gotta be a tiny gap under the screen or something. its kinda a funky covertible screen lid, which is why its giving me a hard time figuring this out.

Luckily my gex haven't escaped yet... however, I used to have a tarantula that escaped when I forgot to put the lid back on her tank.

I couldn't find her for about 3 weeks, & I was finally going through my closet, looking for some shoes to wear to go on a date... & thank God I looked inside the shoe before I put it on...
