how many perches/climbing branches do you have? I'd put at least 2 in the cage... one 6 inches from the heat source, one about 10-12 inches from it. However sometimes they just want to chill on the ground, mine does all the time.

Of course it's normal (or not normal depending on how one views it). By the looks of "that" picture, I'd be on the floor also. Imo, that meal looks big to me. Hopefully you won't be greated with some large intestinal awakening in about 2 weeks.

i was wondering about the size of that meal... that's probably the size my black rat got right before she regurgd it last week.

Very pretty new snake!! I believe the reason your baby went to ground was because of the meal size and it just could not perch comfortably.

I would consider the meal size very carefully for your gtp babies and feed too small rather than too large a meal if necessary. Prolapses are a very possible side effect of feeding too large a meal with gtps.

My adult gtps ground themselves somewhat regularly, usually when going into shed when they hang out under the cork bark on moist substrate..... but.... my babies generally perch on branches or bark and the only time I see them on the floor is in the evenings when they may be cruising hoping that food will appear.
