JCP eggs

Apophis Mar 18, 2005 10:11 AM

Hi!

Can anyone tell me how long it takes for a JCP to lay her eggs after shedding? It has been 29 days since mine shed, and still nothing, and i'm getting worried... Any help? Thanx in advance!

Females usually lay eggs about 3-4 weeks after their post ovulatory shed. Are you sure that your female ovulated? Because if she hasn't ovulated yet then you are still another shed away from being ready for eggs. Did you see the ovulation? If not, did the male continue to breed with the female after she shed this last time? Because males in general will not breed females after they have ovulated. Anyway, let us know if you have any other questions.

Later,
Ben

JCP's average of 25 days from pre-lay shed to oviposition. Sometimes they drop them soon, some later. This year we had one go 32 days, and another carpet go 36 days. And, I believe they have been recorded going as long as 38 days. Just make sure she has access to heat and a lay box.

Good luck!

Hi Will and Ben!

Thanx for your help! The male stopped mating a long time ago, and the female is extremely thick, so i dont think that i have to wait untill the next shed. She has access to heat, aswell as a lay box, so that won't be a problem, I'll just wait for a little while then! Again, thank you!

Greetings Sietse

Sounds like you are set to go then. Post pics when you get the eggs!
