Uroplayus taxonomy question....

ballroom Mar 18, 2005 05:28 PM

I have been dealing with Uroplatus Spp for many years, and have never come accross animals such as the ones that just came into the country. It seems to me as if the U. alluaudi which I have been looking for for years have now come in, And they are being sold as sikorae simeiti, I also started to sell them as such, But am now after extensive research of the belief that this unusual shipment actually contained Alluaudi, Not simeiti. I would like some help from someone that has some experience, and possibly some pictures of this rare and Endangered Spp to help me to identify these animals before they all get sold to beginners as sikorae, and this possibly once in a lifetime opportunity to get and have this Spp set up an a proper breeding facility in captivity passes by.
Please feel free to e-mail me for pictures of the animals I have and send pictures of any you may have, I dont want to go through the hassles of trying to download pictures to this forum.
Thanks

I was under the impression were smaller than sameiti, closer in size to guentheri or pietschmanni?

I have the original species descriptions of both species, but over that, they should be easily distinguishable...

Michael,

Could you send me some photos of the geckos you have in question? I'm curious to take a peak at them and see if I have any input.
